Our Plan to Grow Selected's Membership
What is the most fundamental part of Selected? Without a doubt: quality members. Selected is enriched by every firm who joins, and their participation helps us run and develop the programs, meetings and services members depend on. It is time to deepen and grow!
Our ultimate goal is to have 600 total North American firms by the year 2020; gained 1 member at a time.
To reach our goal, we will need to gain 117 North American members; about 20 every year (or potentially 30 to 35 when accounting for potential departures).
How will we get there?
Member Recommendations: A vital part of our growth involves recommendations from members. If you know of a firm who would benefit from membership and who has a lot to contribute, please let us know! Reach out to Membership Development Director Mark Cuddy or your Board Member, or use our web form.
Research: We are using research in innovative ways to help us work smarter. We'll use member data to create a profile of an active and engaged member and compare that to the profiles of non-member independent funeral homes. This process will result in a list of the most promising potential members who we can then vet and ultimately invite into membership.
Retention: A strong retention rate is half the equation. We continue to aim for excellence in all our endeavors, fully engaging members and providing tangible returns on their investment in Selected.
Marketing: We will work to get Selected's name in front of funeral professionals more often so that prospective members are familiar with us when we reach out.
Using a personal touch: Just as you serve your families in a personal manner, Selected serves 1 member at a time. Our growth must follow suit so that prospective members can experience our personal culture from the very beginning.
With a focus on inclusion: We pledge to welcome qualified funeral homes owned by and serving diverse ethnicities, genders, religions and orientations. We will foster and support inclusion within Selected and create a welcoming environment for all.
