What Class Members Are Saying About the Leadership Academy
Carmon Community Funeral Homes, Windsor, CT
"The initial benefit of the Academy is the opportunity to connect with a wonderful group of funeral directors who offer insight and experience. Yes, its a "business" group, but it's really much more than that. There has been a lot of soul searching— digging deep into who we are. Personally, I am grateful for the new perspective and awareness of my strengths and, more importantly, weaknesses."
Christy Taylor Chaney
Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, KY:
"The Academy has been an eye-and heart-opening experience. The information gained from others who are walking the same path is helpful for knowledge and the realization that we are not walking the path alone. Each person is able to share without judgment—something so hard to find in this world."
Wichmann Funeral Home and Crematory, Appleton, WI:
"The Leadership Academy has given me the opportunity to develop myself personally and professionally, alongside some of the most promising men and women in our profession. Working with Marguerite has been a fantastic experience, and I am looking forward to continuing with our program in the coming year."
Baue Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery, St. Charles, MO:
"This program is great if you are working to become a leader in your company. A lot of us have similar issues we are facing. And as we read through the course books, we discuss how to apply what we are learning to our real-world experiences. I especially like our conference calls and having an accountability partner to talk to regularly."
Hippensteel Funeral Service and Crematory, Lafayette, IN:
"When I first heard of the Leadership Academy, I quickly volunteered to be a part of the pilot class, as I was excited about the opportunity to grow and learn both personally and professionally. I would like to thank Marguerite Ham for her knowledge and inspiration. She is a true professional and has wonderful insight into how the skills we are learning can be applied. Leaders are not born, they are created; and Selected once again is ahead of the curve in offering this Academy to help develop future leaders of this profession."
Ralph Robinson & Son, Pine Bluff, AR:
""Marguerite is wonderful. She's very encouraging and open, and she's very good at what she does. The funeral business is changing so quickly that we all need to become better and try to think ahead so we remain relevant. The Academy gives us a special opportunity to do this, and we all are better professionals and people because of this experience."
Pierson's Funeral Service, Calgary, AB, Canada:
“The interaction among such an excellent group of people combined with an excellent facilitator/trainer.”
Speaks Family Legacy Chapels Independence, MO:
"My first year in the Leadership Academy has been a terrific experience. The curriculum's content and the great books I've been introduced to have really expanded my knowledge of leadership in general. And I am gaining tools and practices that are allowing me to become better equipped as a leader in my firm. A wonderful by-product of the Academy has been getting to know other emerging leaders in my field, many of whom have similar roles within their own organizations."
Heritage Family Funeral Service, Elizabethton, TN:
"I enjoyed the openness of the group. I liked that we had the ability to speak our minds and not feel like we were being judged or criticized."
