As conversations continue around the proposed merger between Selected and NFDA, Selected leadership is committed to keeping members informed every step of the way. In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing answers to some of the most common questions we've received to help provide clarity and keep everyone up to date on the latest developments.

If NFDA acquires Selected, won’t they just overtake us or worse eliminate Selected altogether?

We've been working closely with the NFDA leadership for over a year on this merger and we have made it clear that Selected must remain as close to what we are currently and available only for those firms that have met the requirements to call themselves a Selected Independent Funeral Home. NFDA has committed to maintaining the integrity and identity of Selected, and we have secured representation within NFDA governance and leadership to help preserve Selected membership, programs, and future direction. We would not recommend this path if we had concerns about the future of the organization we all love so much. Both organizations recognize the unique value Selected brings to the profession and we will work together to preserve and strengthen that legacy for generations to come.

"I've spent the past 18 months working side-by-side with NFDA and Selected's leadership, and I can tell you this with complete confidence: preserving Selected's identity, standards and member community has been one of the central commitments throughout the process. NFDA understands that a strong Selected isn't just good for Selected members – it’s essential to achieving the vision leaders from both associations have for the future. If I believed this merger would dilute what makes Selected special, I would not have recommended it to our Board or our members. Simply put, no one benefits if Selected were to lose the qualities that have made it one of the most respected independent associations in funeral service."
