The 2021 Annual Meeting is a time to learn and share valuable information as well as develop and rekindle lifelong friendships that only occurs when Selected members gather. As we reunite after a year of challenges, Selected pledges to provide participants with an engaging and dynamic opportunity to learn, connect and be inspired, whether that be in person or on the Virtual Meeting Platform. General Meeting Information

Where is the 2021 Annual Meeting hotel?
The 2021 Annual Meeting will be held September 22 – 25 in San Antonio, Texas at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio.

What format is the 2021 Annual Meeting going to be presented in?
We are excited to bring members, Preferred Partners and guests back together in person for the 2021 Annual Meeting! The decision to offer the In-Person option comes after CDC Guidelines and the state of Texas have begun to allow for larger In-Person gatherings. However, since we realize some participants may not be comfortable traveling yet, we also are offering an Annual Meeting experience via our Virtual Meeting Platform after the widely-popular response in 2020. (Please be aware, though, that not all sessions and activities available to our In-Person participants will be available to our online participants.)

Is membership in Selected required to participate in the Annual Meeting?
As always, non-members are welcome to register and participate in continuing education sessions. We do, however, keep specific members-only sessions as noted in the agenda.

Will Preferred Partners be participating in the 2021 Annual Meeting?
Preferred Partner display tables and booths will be available during specific times, providing the opportunity to meet with and learn how their offerings can help support our member firms. While this opportunity is only available to In-Person participants, we will feature some of the Conversation Café sessions that will provide both In-Person and Virtual participants a chance to learn more in-depth information from participating Preferred Partners. In addition, the chat feature on our Virtual Meeting Platform will allow Virtual participants to connect with Preferred Partners displaying at the meeting plus they also can visit Selected’s Preferred Partner webpages for more details on all our Preferred Partners.

What software do I need to install on my computer if I choose to participate Virtually?
All registered Virtual participants will receive an email from Selected that includes instructions on how to log in to the Virtual Meeting Platform dashboard. During that log-in process, Virtual participants will be guided through set-up. Zoom will be the program needed, and technical support will be available for anyone needing assistance.

Who do I contact for technical questions?
Registered Virtual participants can request technical support through the log-in process and have access on the dashboard once signed in for the meeting.

Is there “on-demand” technology assistance during the meeting?
See above.

Will Selected have member services available during the Annual Meeting?
The Selected Solutions Center will have Headquarters staff available onsite in San Antonio, September 22-25. The In-Person and Virtual meeting schedules for each day will be listed online and within the Annual Meeting Official Program. Staff also can be contacted via the chat feature in the Virtual Meeting Platform. Headquarters staff will be available to answer direct questions by calling 800-323-4219 or by email at info@selectedfuneralhomes.org.

How do I register for the Annual Meeting?
There are four registration options for the 2021 Annual Meeting. Online registration for members will be accessible on Selected’s Annual Meeting homepage or at the links below:

Are there registration fees for the 2021 Annual Meeting?
The In-Person registration fee for the first participant from a firm is $799 with a limited-time Early Bird registration discounted rate of $699 available until August 23. Each additional participant from the same firm is $499 with the Early Bird rate and $549 after August 23. Registration includes admission to meeting sessions, hospitality breaks during sessions and food packages. In addition, there are meal options for spouses/guests not registering to attend meeting sessions.

The Virtual Meeting Platform View-only registration fee is $199 for up to five unique email addresses.

The Virtual Meeting Platform with Continuing Education registration fee is $499 for the first participant and $199 for each additional participant from the same firm.

How were the registration fees for the 2021 Annual Meeting decided and for what purpose?
Selected strives to keep meeting registration fees stable. In fact, the Annual Meeting registration fees have remained consistent for more than 10 years. The 2021 Annual Meeting fees reflect those from recent years since Selected remains committed to making the Annual Meeting as affordable as possible for members.

Is there an Early Bird rate to register?
In-Person participants that register on or before August 23 will receive the Early Bird first person rate of $699 for a savings of $100! Each additional participant will register at a rate of $499 for a savings of $50 with the Early Bird discount.

Is there a discount for registering multiple staff members?
Selected’s registration fees have three main structures for additional participants: registration for In-Person continuing education, Virtual Meeting Platform with continuing education and Virtual Meeting Platform for viewing only. For registration details, visit the Annual Meeting registration webpage. Registration for continuing education will include a reduced fee for additional staff from the same firm. Registration for view only without continuing education credit will be a flat cost for up to five users within the same firm.

What is the refund policy if I cancel or can’t participate?
If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to send a substitute. Simply email Stefanie Favia or call 800-323-4219 to provide the name and email address of the substitute. Cancellation of registration received prior to August 23, 2021 will result in a full refund, less a service charge of $100. Selected regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows or cancellations after August 23, 2021. Any requests for exceptions to the cancellation/refund policy must be submitted in writing by the registrant with appropriate documentation no later than October 1, 2021. After that time, no refund considerations will be made.

Is there a room block for meeting participants?
Selected's specially negotiated rate of $229/night at Grand Hyatt San Antonio is available until August 23, 2021 or until our room block fills (whichever comes first). Members are strongly encouraged to book a reservation as soon as possible for best availability. Once our room block fills, the hotel will determine if rooms are available and at what rate. What are the COVID-19 specific requirements in San Antonio, Texas?
Currently, the state of Texas has no travel restrictions in place. Although traveling to Texas may put you in contact with a person or person(s) with the coronavirus, you also may spread the virus to others if proper precautions are not taken. Additionally, the city of San Antonio is following the “Greater, SAfer, Together” pledge in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and encourages all travelers to familiarize themselves with the latest protocols prior to visiting the area. Does the Grand Hyatt San Antonio have a COVID-19 policy enacted?
Yes. The hotel has developed the Hyatt’s Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment and has adapted a full range of initiatives, which builds on their existing rigorous safety and cleanliness protocols and includes:

  • GBAC STARTM cleanliness and training accreditation process through the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) at all Hyatt hotels
  • Trained Hygiene & Wellbeing Leader or team at all locations, responsible for their hotel adhering to new operational protocols and training
  • Cross-functional panel of trusted medical and industry advisors—including experts from Cleveland Clinic—to help us fine-tune safety protocols and consider various aspects of the entire hotel experience

How many continuing education credits can I qualify for?
Selected has applied for 10 hours of continuing education credit, which equals 1.0 CE Units in Category B, from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (Provider #1024, Event # pending) and all states requiring CE. Selected cannot guarantee approval in states. For a list of approvals received, visit Selected’s Continuin Education Credit webpage..

When will the full meeting agenda be posted?
The In-Person and Virtual meeting schedules are posted on the Annual Meeting website and will be printed within the 2021 Annual Meeting Official Program.

Does each individual registering for the Virtual Meeting Platform Registration need their own registration?
Yes. The email address(es) provided during registration will receive the log-in access prior to the meeting. Attendance will be verified for CE credit by monitoring the email address(es) that log in to the live broadcasts of CE sessions. Credit can only be granted to participants registered for CE credit who access the live broadcast using the email address(es) provided in registration.

Do I get CE if I only participate in a few sessions?
It is the participant’s responsibility to confirm that the session(s) has been approved by your state and/or that your state offers CE credit for individual sessions. Some states require attendance for the entire meeting to receive credit and do not award partial credit.

Will recorded sessions be posted? Can I receive CE for viewing the recorded sessions?
Session recordings will be available on the Annual Meeting Archive webpage to those who registered for the meeting. Continuing education credit will only be issued for participation in live sessions and will be tracked via log-in data. Credit cannot be issued for watching recordings of sessions.

Will I have the opportunity to ask questions during a session?
Although we will try to incorporate the opportunity to ask questions for both In-Person and Virtual participants, the ability to ask questions will vary depending on the session and speaker. Details will be provided at the start of each session.

During what hours do live sessions take place?
The full agenda including the In-Person and Virtual meeting schedules will be accessible via the Annual Meeting Official Program and the Annual Meeting webpage. All In-Person participants will be given an Official Program onsite while the Virtual participants will be mailed an Official Program prior to the start of the meeting.

Will Virtual participants have access to all sessions during the meeting?
The Virtual registration is your all-access pass to the Virtual Annual Meeting Platform including general sessions, on-demand content, private chat to connect with colleagues, learn about and support the Selected Educational Trust, explore information on our Preferred Partners and more. Virtual participants will not have access to all breakout sessions, Conversations Cafes or other specific sessions and activities. When will I be able to view session content after the Annual Meeting is over (contributed material, session recordings, etc.)?
As at previous Annual Meetings, available slides, handouts, session recordings and other materials will be available on the Annual Meeting Archive webpage in the weeks following the meeting conclusion.

How long will the content (contributed material, photos, etc.) from the Annual Meeting be viewable?
As in previous years, the Annual Meeting Archive webpage on Selected's website retains all information for the three most recent Annual Meetings.
